Transitions & Reflections

1.
I walked through hell but I didn't see you there It thought it well to tell you God still cares In fact the halls were empty, not a soul around I had assumed who I'd see when coming down Through all the reasons we've laid out to say some are best The Spirit still is whispering this truth until the end Resist the urge to clone your tongue of fire The Spirit moves without us knowing why Don't confuse your bias With the face of God inside us Resist the urge to clone your tongue of fire I walked through bliss, walked around its fringe To see the gates had been taken off their hinge And some thought it surprising to see you standing there I thought the same of others who didn't live to care If we are meant to keep the halls of heaven pure Then in the end we will surprised, I am sure Perhaps it's best to let the God we follow make the choice Before we lose another child, silence another voice
2.
In a place of doubt and fear The first words that we hear are peace Peace be with you Though we doubt and ran away Stood by silent as he was slain, Peace, peace be with you Who are we that we can hear? Words of peace, peace to you You broken hearted will be renewed To all who've lost and ran away To all the doubters, he proclaims Peace In our space, our doors locked tight The light through darkness blinds our eyes Peace, peace be with you The Son of Man has conquered death And all who creation holds her breath Peace, peace be with you In our brokenness we hear Words of peace, peace to you You broken hearted will be renewed To all who've lost and ran away To all the doubters, he proclaims Peace In the darkness, light appears Scarred and loving enters here Calling all who hurt and fear Telling all with ears to hear Words of peace, peace to you You broken hearted will be renewed To all who've lost and ran away To all the doubters, he proclaims Peace
3.
The palms of our celebration And the cries of our exaltation Hosanna hosanna in the highest Have burned away to be ash now To mark our repentance on brow To dust you shall return But in the end both are good Both responses are as it should be And in the end they lead to you Exaltation and lamentation belong to you Our mouths proclaim that you're loving The world your glory is flooding Hosanna hosanna in the highest Yet with our words we are wailing That we, imperfect, are failing To dust we shall return As together we journey We'll feel both beauty and yearning Hosanna hosanna in the highest We'll also see that we're broken In deeds and thoughts left unspoken To dust we shall return
4.
How Do We 02:50
How do we keep on loving when we disagree How do we move on forward in unity How do we live the gospel How do we teach each other How do we listen above the screams How do we hold on tightly to what we've learned How do we speak the truth at a loss for words How do we freely live out The mission we've heard about How do we make and take our turn How do we live in empire 'til kingdom come How do we live remembering the light has won How do we tell our children Teach them to think and listen How do live and speak in love
5.
He entered on a colt, covered up with cloaks The road before him paved with palms Then holy shouts were raised, singing words of praise Nothing could drown out the sacred sound Hosanna in the highest Hosanna in the highest But that was days ago and now the empire knows That Jesus Christ cannot be bought The jury felt convicted and as the cross was lifted Still hearing cries they cast their lots Crucify the traitor They crucified the Savior Not so long ago we heard "Hosanna in the highest" Today the shouts are "Crucify" If there's hope for even them There's hope for you and I Between hosanna and crucify If they could shout out both, curses and their hopes Then you can see we all belong The words that Jesus spoke while he gave up his soul Forgive them Father all their wrongs These words are yours Before you were born If there's anything to know from this week's to-and-fro It's that our lives have consequence Our hope is not in lives perfectly comprised But in the Christ who died and rose again
6.
Weed to Vine 02:37
We the vineyard of your making On your faithfulness rely Every seed and fruit are staking Every breath on your supply On our own we wilt and stumble Never able to survive But in manger lying humble We find sun that bring us life Bring from us a fruitful harvest Make of us a loving bride Grant that we may see your promise And follow you our loving guiding God you've made us to be planted Only in your saving word Welcomed into holy banquet And to be the wine you serve In the midst of all our failings Miracles you still provide We've become more than our making Turning us from weed to vine
7.
We are beggars this is true Assembly of the lost and fool We lack the power to find the bread Without your Spirit and its coming in Feed us now By grace alone Though undeserved We are your own We are broken this is true Daily reminded by our own pursuits Still we find that despite the stain Your broken Son has made us whole again We are loved by the One Forsaking all our Savior hung We are loved by the One Giving life to all of us We're forgiven this is true Restored to life and renewed Still only beggars in search of bread We've found pantry in our Savior's hand
